Lincoln Kirby-Bell

Lincoln was born in 1962 in Kingston, South Australia. He now lives and works in Cornwall. His work can be found amongst several private collections in Australia.

Lincoln has a unique approach to his work and in particular the marketing of his work. Galerie du Cygne are pleased that Lincoln has accepted a special commission to produce 'Black Swann Pebbles' which are unique to our gallery.

For more than two decades he has left pieces of his work and more recently decorated 'Pebbles' in odd places around the world. It is a way of leaving a little prayer to nature and all its wonders, the materials are all earth based ( the clay itself, the colours and the glaze) and the objects made from them are a result of Earth, Water, Fire and Air all coming together and the X factor, human consciousness and expression. He has dropped pieces deep in the worlds oceans, in rivers and lakes, buried them in the rain forest of central America, left them in the Australian desert, in the Himalayan mountains, on the busy streets of New Delhi, London and Marrakesh where he has lived, worked and travelled in the last 25 years. It is a means of achieving some degree of immortality, especially with clays exceptional qualities of durability with the potential to last for thousands, even tens of thousands of years.

Lincoln Kirkby-Bell's Pottery is available at our Woodstock, Rye and Burford Galleries.
