Galerie du Cygne – St Tropez

Galerie du Cygne St Tropez opened in June 2001 and is open for the Summer months of June to September. Opening hours are 10h00 to 12h00 and again 17h00 to 20h00.

The Gallery is staffed and run by our resident Artists and we invite new Artists to apply for the 2012 Summer season.

The Galerie is to be found nestled under the walls of the ruins of the castle in the old village of Grimaud, St.Tropez and has wonderful views of the coastline and sea from the piazza outside. It was originally a stables housing the goats, sheep and rabbits in the village until it was restored by us into an artist’s studio and gallery.

The gallery is managed by Stephen Lack

Stephen has lived in France for 40 years and is also an antiques dealer specialising in the restoration of French and decorative furniture.

Stephen was born in London in 1947 and was interested in art from a young age and during his teenage years spent most of his time in the London art galleries where he discovered Van Gogh, Gaucin and Modigilani. He undertook several art appreciation courses and in his early adult years he went to work for a restoration firm in Cambridge and was involved with projects for Cambridge University, Audley End and the Jockey Club in Newmarket specialising in antique furniture and fabrics.

Stephen emigrated to France about 40 years ago and went to live in the Samur Loire Valley where he opened his own business as an antique dealer and restorer importing and exporting furniture between France the UK.

He moved to Aix-en-Provence about 30 years ago and continued trading in antiques and restoration work.
